Hopefully the heavy rain in the south will contain all the ashes to Indonesian soil......

I was staying near Jogja when Merapi blew up around 15 years ago. At that time, the exclusion zone was 20km, so quite a lot bigger than this recent one (4.5km). Ash covered everything and most things were closed. 

Three days after the eruption, all the bule/farang had fled, except for me and the shirtless hippy playing guitar and camping in front of Circle K. 

Glad to hear there were no fatalities. Those pyroclastic flows from Merapi are truly lethal.
