The level of superstition in Thailand is mind boggling.  But I’m more astounded by the magnitude and hypocrisy of government lotteries from the same government which continue to crackdown on other forms of gambling throughout the country.  Lotteries are used by governments world wide as its legitimate form of supplemental income, but mostly has an adverse effect on the poor who’s desperation fuels desire for that quick fix.
