One cannot expect celebrity status out of his/her own territory.

Who but a complete idiot puts valuables worth 200,000THB in a suitcase? Unless of course the amount has been 'estimated' for insurance purposes. Coming from Thailand surely she should be used to lack of action by the police

She wasn't asking for celebrity status. It is not unreasonable to expect the police to accept a theft report . Telling the victim of crime to return to the city where the loss may have or have not occurred is negligence.

The airline will be liable for a basic amount, but that doesn't cover much.

In respect to her travels, consider it poetic justice for flying to a sanctioned country. Good luck on trying to collect anything from the Russians.
