Back at school, in East London, in 1961, I scored 3% for my Religious Education (RE) exam.

Towards the end of term, Dad was perusing the year's 'Report Card' progress. "Only got 3 from 100 in one exam lad."

"Don't know how I got that many Dad. I left the paper blank."

"We will see at 'Open Day'."

And at Open Day, Dad sought out the RE teacher. Asked for an explanation why I scored 3, when the paper was left blank.

"Er yes Mr Snaps, Your son's exam. One point for putting the right date. One point for spelling 'Religious Education' correctly. One point for being brave enough to put his name on the paper."
