Planning for “Pattaya Move On” reopening scheme continues

Recommended Posts

Despite the high Covid-19 infection rate in Chon Buri, planning for the “Pattaya Move On” reopening programme will continue. With the ongoing spread of the virus and the emergence of the highly transmissible Delta variant, infecting more than 500,000 people in Thailand over the past several months, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has been considering whether to postpone the reopening of several tourist destinations. Pattaya has taken a hit from the lack of international tourism. Many businesses have closed. Walking Street has been compared to the Walking Dead, the zombie apocalypse TV show and graphic novel series. Many bar girls […]

Samui is pleased to announce that after weeks and weeks of zero covid cases, it can finally add 20 new infections to the national tally. We like to thank all Darwin-awarded idiots and the vigilant corrupt authorities for participating in this achievement.

Oh Move on as they say  ?  Wait what did they say they wanted Pattaya to move on to ? re-opening they say but what do they wish to re-open ? Would it be re-opening the traditional RTP extorsion of foreigners, Re-open the mafia grip on ripping off people renting jet skies. Or is it the Wealthy property owners wanting to re-open the rip off those bar owners  ? So many things that they want to move on to without defining exactly what they want.

Unfortunately any plans will come to nought as long as the entry requirements remain as they are. It's just too much hassle to even arrive in Thailand now.

So unless you have some inside information that the COE, pre paid bookings, multiple expensive tests, tracking etc. are about to be scrapped i wouldn't put too much effort into your plans - they are not going to amount to anything.

The Thai government is failing the people of Thailand by not having an aggressive vaccine program. I know many people in Pattaya  and they cannot get the vaccine!! 70 to 80% of the people in Thailand need to be Vaccinated to defeat COVID-19. If you’re going to open Pattaya , then you need to get the vaccine to the people who need it the most, the people who depend on tourists for a living! You need to do this NOW!!!

It will open ! What ever criteria they say before opening or what will cause it to be shut down will just be ignored and then the incredibly funny way they lie and say we'll we didn't exactly mean what we said !

Perhaps Carry On would be a better name.   But then again the Carry On movies were quite funny.  The desperate attempt to reopen Thailand for tourism is becoming sad.  I hope they can manage to get a handle on things.  I think it will take longer than "2 or 3 weeks - 4 at the most".

I get the idea of needing to continue to prepare for opening. However the idea it might happen in Pattaya as soon as September 1 is absurd. The end of October is a stretch at best considering they have a full blown outbreak on their hands and not enough weapons to fight it. It's going to take a whole lot of vaccinations before places like Pattaya and BKK reopen to anything but token numbers (exactly what you are seeing in Phuket where they are in the process of dropping off a cliff).

But where will the money come from for the opening? And who will open the businesses who are permanently closed and for rent or sale? Most businesses are already overloaded with debts. There is a big liquidity problem in Thaland and the highest private household debts of whole Asia. Many businesses needed the extension for the loan holiday but who provides the loans for the restart? Thailand is locked since 1.5 years and burnt a lot of the money from loans already.

I was thinking similar.  At least in Carry On, no one was seriously injured.  In Thailand, the Grim Reaper plays for keeps.

UN Believable.  That they are still moving forward on this and other schemes to attract tourists shows how far out of touch with reality they are.  Cases in Phuket went over the number stated for closure of the Sandbox, so they just moved the number up and will keep the Sandbox open - they are so used to getting what they want that they just move the goalposts.

In Australia, the only new cases for over a year has come from people arriving or returning from overseas. The current wave of infections in Sydney can all be traced back to a few people. But they were vaccinated and they tested negative and they stayed in isolation - but after they left quarantine they tested positive and they had infected others.

I am beginning to think that the only real answer to stop new cases is to stop international travel - period. If a country cannot do that, and in Thailand it is basically impossible, then they at some time will have to just accept that a large number of people are going to get the infection, vaccinated or not, and the outcomes will just have to be managed.  This is a lose/lose situation all over the world - new case numbers are going up and up - they cannot stop it unless they lockdown the entire country.  But inviting in new tourists, in the middle of a wave of new infections, is just ridiculous.

The number of new cases of Covid per day has been rising steadily for several weeks now. It was 17,600 today. A month from now it's going to be 30,000 or 40,000 cases a day and the hospitals will be overflowing and people will be dying like flies. Good luck with that re-opening.

some weeks ago, news say,
in chonburi province, city of it, had around 300 ""viurs"", "infected", per day, and pattaya, 7,
now is not much changed, because almost all people, weak mask and state at home.

why not let, inside of city and villages open ? because some people not respect other people.
see, article 1, civil rights, ohchc, = highest right in every country.

people not want test-pandemic. as seen in many countries now,
if too much people are angry and on street, even governments have to go back,
because to say, want help, but cause partly civil war, is not
helping, getting healthier or peace.
