According to the thenation  https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40003833

"The trial on infected prison inmates showed fah talai jone can prevent the virus from entering cells while also reducing viral replication, Ratchada said. The Corrections Department gave the herbal remedy to 11,800 inmates with mild symptoms and 99.02 per cent of them recovered, she added."

This is one of the few remedies, along with remdesivir, that seems meaningful. I am generally skeptical about traditional medicine but after reading recent papers on the andrographolide active principle, it may hold a good promise in beating mild COVID-19.

Its 3D conformation pairs almost perfectly within a pocket in the SARS-CoV-2 protease blocking its action. The only issue is the very poor bioavailability.

IMO this is being promoted to give hope because people are scared and desperate.

The claim is that it will cure the infected. However, when reading the disclaimers, it is said to work in people who have mild symptoms or who are asymptomatic. Think about that.  IMO these people were going to recover anyway so there is no evidence it can really help.

Green Chiretta (Andrographolide) targets the Androgen Receptor Pathway

I've been seeing some studies of drugs that target the androgen receptor, specifically proxalutamide that have shown great results.

It also appears to suppress prostate cell cancer growth according to the linked above paper.

FYI, Proxalutamide is a proprietary drug  developed for the treatment of prostate and breast cancer. It is expensive. 50 mg costs $3,000- $5,000. USD.

Dexamethasone is available as a generic and is the anti inflammatory drug of choice for Covid patients. 50 mg costs   $0.10 - $0.15 USD

If dexamethasone is effective (and it is) it would be irresponsible for a health system to switch products. using Dexamethasone means that more people can be treated because the cost is lower and the drug is easier to manufacture.

Yes, I have seen the glowing announcements from Brazil  and the big Chinese manufacturer announcement. In a forum filled with claims of  'big pharma' conspiracies, I am surprised no one has pounced and ripped the flesh from your bones in a fit of derisive condemnation.
