Finally. Years ago, they removed the sunbeds too. There was an agreement to allow some to come back, but once again the corrupt thugs have sought to push the envelope.. The reason why this has to be done is that the  sunbeds block access to the beach. people who do not wish to be forced onto these dirty greasy uncomfortable seats  have few places to go.

I was literally just at Surin Beach and  they don't block access to the beach at all

The beds and tables for eating are up above the sand on the beach

With the whole sand area not touched at all

It was actually quite nice spending a leisurely afternoon there today

Have to consider what Phuket was a hundred years.

Bliss.

There are km's and km's of unspoilt beaches all over Thailand if you want that

I suggest that you visit at high tide when there isn't a crackdown. The problem at high season is that the beaches get crowded out and the local authorities have to take preventative actions.

The fact remains is that these are commercial operators who squat on the beach profiting from a public asset that is supposed to be open to all. The very fact that one of the  beach  gangs seeks to take over various part of the beach speaks to that. It was only a few short years ago that the illegal beach clubs were cleared. Now the operators are trying to creep back.

Have you ever been to Patong beach? How many jetskis are stationed there? I will count again when I am there next week. My highest count was 78 one high season. People are not allowed to sit on much of the beach because it is used by the illegal parasail gangs.

I don't disagree with much of that

I don't like places like Samui where you can't see the sea

But the fact is many tourists want the services

This is a live shot of Surin today

I think it a good outcome

Have the restaurants and beds up and the sand free

I don't even know what that means....

My point was if you want how Phuket was 100 yrs ago or even 40yrs ago is there still is a bunch of places to go

My post was not meant as anything other than pointing that out
