Standard behaviour it seems, Thais will only ever attack if they outnumber you or are at a considerable advantage because of your age or infirmity. Cowards!

I’ve been coming to Thailand for some 15 years and live here now and have only once ever had a real fight with any of them I was alone and there were 3 of them, I managed to throw one to the ground and he hurt his knee, I punched the second guy and the third hit me with a machete on the back of the head, resulting in 11 stitches and a nice scar. I was lucky to survive at all and just in case anyone is wondering no I didn’t start it.
