Yea, this is why I never go to any club or similar in Thailand. Getting dehumanized and forced to urine into something. Not my type of night lol

"The time of the Pattaya police raid, which took place at 2am today, October 18, found the establishment teeming with around 50 patrons, all engrossed in drink and dance, oblivious to the impending storm."

Teeming with 50 patrons...😆😆😆

Ravers in thr UK used to be cool, though it wasn't my bag. People in my class had started to go to raves when the CJA banned them.

Ravers tended not to drink alcohol, and to not be promiscuous. I notice the CJA did not ban British drink culture, which is toxic in the extreme.

Bring back the early 1990s. The TV was better, the music was better, tge adverts were better, the video games were better, the culture was better.

People were more laid back then. And society wasn't so anti-youth, not least, because young people were behaving better.

And I still don't drink, vecause I don't wanna be like adults, who do nothing else.

I am so old that the whole clubbing\raving scene passed me  by - but the people that I knew that were into it were generally highly promiscuous and into anything, from alcohol onward, that could leave them in a state of altered consciousness.

It wasn't a rave just a popular club

But back in my Patong days there was a famous outdoor after-after hours club

Safari

Just on the outskirts of Patong

If you got there at 2:30am there wouldn't be anyone there

If you got there at 2:50an there were 500-1000 people

It would go to 6am or so

And if you were real hard core there was a back house that would go to 8-9am

Now my wife and I are you at 6:30am waiting for breakfast to open.  😀

Were you in the UK? Because a lot of young people in Britain thought alcohol was going to be the past, like rock music. I just saw drinking as something dads did, unless it was Christmas or something

People did experiment with drugs. I remember an urban myth, about Tippex. And people sniffing Tippex, just to see if it was true, if people could get high on Tippex. And idiots, would pretend they'd got high.

But on the whole, ravers had a public image of not drinking or shagging around. Almost like straight edgers. It went downhill shortly before the CJA with some manufactured hysteria, about a 19 year old girl, who died after taking an E.

In fact the situation was exceptional, and it was rumored, alcohol was also involved. So MDMA was demonised, and alcohol whitewashed, although it also led to a teenage death. Because as we all know, the big thing over the 18th, and the pressure for 18 anf 19 year olds to end up like their patents, which includes alcohol use.

Living through the CJA and comparing attitudrs, and behaviors, before and after it, shaped my interest in sociology and social history.

We looked down on ravers as stupid vapid people. They were consuming all manner of drugs cooked up in some motorbiker's lab tainted with all sorts of poisons and heavy metals. We never came across anyone truly original or creative or successful. They were simple a recreation of 1970's era disco culture, and disco sucked.   They had their jungle music, techno,  trance etc. And of course there was Techno viking. Who can forget that  German man?

This video sums up the weirdness of rave culture. A smurf women, nasty drunks, clueless drunks, a weird  german gym attendant, a faithful servant the internet dubbed water bottle boy and too many drugged up fools.

Best times of my life at raves. Friends for life.

Dancing in a field with your mates watching the sun come up laughing at the ramblers and dog walkers, what's not to like ....😆😆🤔🤔

The anticipation driving around in the dark round some industrial estate or a country lane. Stop the engine, listen for the beat..

Happy dayz...

If you're referring to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, that was in 1994, and the most infamous death in the media would have been that of Leah Betts which occurred after in 1995.

What was notable was that she had consumed about 7 litres of water the night she died which was a major contributory factor in her death.

You could probably go to a temple, or a 7/11 or parlement and get a 2% positive drug test.

I would guess that a sample of the officers carrying out the raid would have turned up a greater than 2% though to be fair if they caught 2 out of 50 reported people present that is 4%
