Sadly I have not seen any condemnation of the Hamas massacre from the Thai authorities. Much like the situation across the border in Burma where the Junta forces are killing hundreds of Burmese citizens. What is the matter with Thai leaders that they do not condemn these atrocities?

It's incredible that the Palestinians can slaughter Thai citizens... and not even receive a rebuke.

And Israel has been a source of employment for tens (hundreds?) of thousands of Thais throughout the years.

Unbelievable.

I was unaware of the  slaughter of  innocent Thais until I spoke with my friend yesterday. He was beside himself with anger. He is an army veteran, a former NCO with a strong dislike of the southern religious rebels. We have sometimes had some discussions about the treatment of the people he dislikes, with it being worse when he drank. The general gist of the discussions was my saying he needed to be more conciliatory, and understanding and working toward peace. His usual frustrated response was that I didn't understand the culture or the mentality. I suppose that came from his experience and loss of friends while in service.

Anyway, his comment to me yesterday was, do you understand now, do you see? To which I responded with silence because there was nothing I could say that was appropriate under the circumstances. There is some anger with some Thais. Anger at the people who did this, anger with the Israelis who failed to protect them and anger at both the Thai government and Israelis for not  evacuating them, although in fairness I don't think either the Thais or Israelis were in a position to do anything initially.  I feel for the poor Thai migrant worker who has to work elsewhere to feed his family all because the Thai government preferred to purchase things like submarines instead of investing in opportunities for Thais like them.
