Henna that is available in the market are all chemically modified. They are not originally from 100% plant based. Further Henna is only applied on the surface of the skin. It is not injected beneath the top layer of the skin. Even hair dye has instruction to test on a small area of the skin for allergic reactions before applying to the scalp.

Tattoos, as far as I know, do not use henna as ink. Henna goes onto the outer surface only, and is temporary. Any such substance could, in theory, cause allergic reactions.
