Just try restricting the import of all that cheap Chinese tat and watch China fight back vigorously, China is more than capable of collapsing Thailand's economy.

While I completely agree with your post, does Thailand have a choice? The balance of trade heavily favors China, and with an export driven economy like Thailand that's not a good thing. It's basically sucking the money out of the country. Sooner or later the choice to fight back will be made, either on Thailand terms, or the market. That said, I'd expect Thailand to take a middle approach which doesn't end up helping its economy and yet still piss off China.

China is easily the largest or 2nd largest export country for Thailand according to data.

There is heavy reliance on China for the survival of Thailand's economy.

A move like this could have repercussions on Thai economy as China is famous for trade retaliations.

No doubt about it. I guess everyone can see by now that China is gradually taking over Asia by building such dependency on Chinese goods amongst Asian (and western) countries causing huge trade deficits so that ultimately they will control the country as they will have a strangle hold on its economy. Why fight a war when you can take over by the back door, similar in many ways to the way the German economy virtually dictates the EU's fiscal plans in Europe.
