This is mere stupidity. During day time the waves will push everything towards the shore. During night time the waves will drag everything away from the shore towards the sea. This is primary school lesson. I wonder why those people who swim in the sea at night cannot remember this simple science.

Rubbish. It has more to do with the tides. Low tide, water goes out, high tide, water comes in.

Incorrect. Look up undertow and riptides. Pardon me to say this but that is a very dangerous statement your wrote. I hope everyone disregards it.

There were no lifeguards on beaches at 7.30pm, sadly signage alone does not stop holidaymakers from enjoying a swim. A co-ordinated plan for Phuket beach safety is sorely needed. Please can we prevent more of these tragic incidents. Condolences to this family.
