Study finds 2 doses of Pfizer, AstraZeneca effective against Delta strain

A study published yesterday shows that 2 doses of the Pfizer vaccine or 2 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are almost as effective against the rapid-spreading Delta variant as they are against the Alpha variant. The Delta variant is scary with the vaccinated still possible to be quite ill if infected. I don't think  some people get that.  The saving grace is that the vaccinated won't die and they should escape  a hospital stay.

The Pfizer  protection still looks good, but I am disappointed with the Oxford Astra Zeneca  result. 2 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were 88% effective against the Delta variant. 2 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were 67% effective against the Delta variant. 

The government really does need to work toward gaining access to the mRNA vaccines. It is quite obvious that the old school technology isn't the best for this  infection.

 

 

 

The article is a being vague about the comparative efficacy between Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

If 100 people are vaccinated with Pfizer, on average 12 persons will still catch the Delta variant covid. Out of 100 AZ-vaccinated people 33 will catch Delta variant covid. Therefore Pfizer is about 3x as efficient as the leading vaccination available here in Thailand.

One third of vaccinated people will still catch, and most importantly, spread covid if they received the AstraZeneca jab. That's actually not even better than Sinovac based on what preliminary data seems to suggest...
