Thursday Covid Update: 13,655 new cases and 87 deaths

Another record high of 13,655 new Covid-19 cases and 87 coronavirus-related deaths were reported today by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. In the latest and most severe wave of Covid-19, first recorded on April 1, the CCSA has reported a total of 424,269 infections. Of the new cases, 545 were reported in correctional facilities. More than 40,000 inmates at Thailand’s overcrowded prisons have tested positive for the virus in the recent wave. The trend direction is clear but the end destination is not. That worst case 20-30K seems inevitable within a month or so.  I hear the PM met with some more of his cronies yesterday - but there has been no new announcements or programs that I can see.  Reminds me of that famous scene where Hitler is in the bunker surrounded by his Generals and the truth was clearly spelt out to him - they have lost. At least Hitler 'resigned' so to speak - little chance of that I fear.

I'm sure that the question has been asked before, but how is it that the total figures are available long before we get the numbers for the individual provinces?

I assumed it was because the provincial totals are checked and tallied prior to being sent to the central team that then publishes the results, whereas the country's overall totals are purely taken from spins of a roulette wheel early morning hence no one has any confidence in their credibility

the dagger goes deeper day after day ..... no sacrifice no victory ...... they must act with force if they wanna stop the spread. for a military government their strategy is questionable, they are at war against an invisible enemy but traceable ....... not so professional approach they have ... i would said.
