The conditions were a 100,000 baht (US$2,900) dowry and the requirement to conceive within six months.

For a Chinese man this is pretty much like winning a lotto. For a local Chinese girl he would have to produce an asset list, including at a minimum one house, plus savings accounts, plus a steady job (which, if you've been following the news from China, is not a given at all).
