Other tourists in the vicinity were unaware that the man was drowning......

Unless you do straight stroke Laps ....how can you dismiss the fight for life of a drowning human being 5 meters to your side ?

Have a look at the photo. Chairs are not close to pool. Maybe if there was only 1 or 2 others in the pool they may not have seen or heard. It is why my Red Cross  water safety courses had us use the buddy system.

I can't tell you how many instances where I have seen Indians putting themselves in danger in the water

We were in Costa Rica and a family of Indians obviously didn't know how to swim and went white water rafting

They tipped their raft and put a lot of people on danger grabbing them and pulling them under

I have seen more than a few isntances like that..............

Stupid is what stupid does. I hope they drain the pool and clean it. Yuck as the dead persons bodily fluids release into the water.

Most of them are thinking that having  money to enjoy can buy them everything. But they forget it also can buy them death. One other thing many do is drink and dive in the pool. May be for these people the resort management has to provide kids inflated pools for them to enjoy and not buil in swimming pools.

Why do Indians seem to drown in Thai hotel pools so regularly. Surely if you can't swim stay out of the pool!

If you don't know how to swim, don't enter a pool, the ocean, lakes or rivers.  Seems like common sense, but too many stories like this one pop up all the time throughout the world.
