After reading this story it did prompt me to lift the bonnet of the car and check if my battery was still there, good job I did as I noticed two lumps on the battery, I sent it away to get it checked and on its return one of the lumps came back positive. 🔋

Clearly not hardened criminal masterminds. 

Not an excuse for their actions, but can't help thinking they are skint and desperate, possibly abusing alcohol/drugs for a temporary escape, and this plan sounded good in the moment.   Jeez, at least take the original shop stickers off the batteries. 

Hitting rock bottom does weird things to your mind.
