Some of the funds will be used for so-called “survival boxes” to distribute to those in “dark red” zones, according to government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri. This is a joke right ? He cannot think for 1 second that this is what people want or need.

Should have given up his salary from when Covid started not just the next 3 months, also note he only stated this after 1 of his minions had announced this was what he was doing.

PM certainly doesn't know what leading by example is.

Make Thailand great again, 3 month at a time

The motto should be "Bring happiness and opportunity to the poor, screw the corrupt elite who got rich at their expense"

This would be laughed at in developed countries with an educated population. This will be accepted and even welcomed by many Thais due to the history of paternalism. It may look totally ridiculous to westerners but will be met with tears of joy by many Thais.

Make no mistake, this is the first of a number of high profile charm offences. The electorate in all countries are fickle. In developed countries it’s often reductions in income tax or lowering fuel duty. In Thailand it’s free hand fell and a hello Kitty face mask. The outcome is the same, more votes!

Morally rotten is trait from the top down for so long, so for them it is the norm

Things have changed in the last 20 or 30 years - then a bag of rice or a bucket may have bought a vote - not any more.

If you think "many Thais" are going to be so impressed at receiving some wet wipes and a thermometer that they'll vote for the current government then I think you're just a bit out of touch.

Yes, i think you're right. Whatever the case may have been in years gone by, things have moved on. People have much higher expectations now. And the very real danger of losing everything including quite possibly your life in this current crisis focuses the mind. You're not going to pacify or cajole with a few cheap convenience store items.

well all this is nice and I hope done with good intentions but its by no means a replacement for a social welfare state like sweden or central europe...people here need prober social care, unemployment and pension benefits...a minimum wage of 1000 bt a day...five day week etc...

the right of expressing ones mind...etc etc

and prober financial funding in covid for all companys ( yes also to the family noodle store ) if they are ordered to close...

what is done here especially in covid times feeds the narrativ of thailand as a poor third world country ( with the richest monarch by the way ) with an army general as emporer ultimo...on the lash of  big brother usa....

main export cheap sex ,cheap rice ,cheap tourism a corrupt police force and a destroyed nature....

education only for the richest....

does the narrative mirror everyday reality...

answer it for yourselve...
