Over the weekend, an illegal game of Baccarat was busted, Now, Phuket city police are under investigation for their lack of intervention Vis-à-vis gambling in their jurisdiction. The Region 8 Police Commander, Kitrat Panpetch gave an order yesterday to transfer the 5 officials from Phuket City Police Station. They will temporarily work out of the Region 8 headquarters at a different part of the island while an investigation into their actions is underway. Very true. RTP corruption is world renowned so any investigation is not worth the time it takes to file a report.

Have they checked the police waste paper basket for empty brown envelopes?

This matter must be difficult for Phuket police.

Do they raid the games, and confiscate all the money on the tables? Take payoffs from the punters? Grab the fancy cars of the game organisers?

Or do they take a weekly supply of brown envelopes.

AS they sing in the Pirates of Phuket, I think it is: A policeman's lot is not a happy one.

What do you mean "RTP corruption"? That's a terrible thing to say about the best police force that money can buy.

I recall a few years back, reading a story in one of the Pattaya online news sheets about a gambling arrest that was made in Pattaya. It involved three bargirls who while waiting for customers, got out a deck of cards, and started playing for baht coins.No doubt the streets of Pattaya were a lot safer that night. 

Another story in a similar vein, involved the Pattaya police busting an illegal gambling "gang". It was reported that when the three operators were searched police discovered about 800 THB. Who say's crime doesn't pay?

l can recall when the pattaya police raided a bridge club ? a game mainly played by the elderly expats and  arrested ?? the thai bridge club society had to explain to the cops it was a recreational card game,and by the way there no casinos in bangkok says dpm prawit ??

You would have thought the Governor of Phuket would be closely watching his Sandbox and stamping down heavily on anyone disrupting or damaging the image he is trying to project. Yet his department of law has been seen as untrustworthy by allowing high ranking RTP turning a blind eye on illicit gambling. What was the action he took ? moving them to another district instead of  sacking them immediately and showing he means business. These officers will be already back in there old post's with a slap on the wrist and no one will be sentenced. If they were Farang Expats there mug shots and probably the local news crew would be all over them finger pointing and printing a detailed account. And the old favorite Chief of police shaking hands with his officers after they acted on a police sting that arrested this Gang.

Think you need to read up on the Phuket mafia families, who they are, how they got there and it will then all fall in to place
