Where and when will I be able to have the Pfizer vaccine that the US is sending to Thailand this week? I am a US citizen living in

Thailand.

The real question is if and when the vaccines do arrive will any of it make it to the people in Thailand or will it mysteriously be lost.  More concerning would be will it be impossible for someone to tamper with the vials removing all or a portion of the vaccine and replacing it with worthless solution?

No, not all all.  I just remember what happened in Puerto Rico.   Here is a U.S. territory and supplies sent to it were diverted.  And somehow you think that Thailand is more virtuous?

Far from it, but I really don't see Siam Bioscience doing what you suggest.

.... and in any event we can't worry about every last bit of shady dealing here - or we might as well go 'home'.

My biggest concern about Pfizer coming to Thailand is the extremely sensitive nature of the vaccine to any kind of thermal shocks. If some guy in shipping somewhere along the lines takes a smoke break with a pallet on his forklift it could be lights out for those vials. How many ultra-cold (-80) chillers are there up-country?

this is not right and an old information,

vaccine can be stored one month in a normal fridge at 2 until 8 degress !!!

it is more than 2 months to know better

No. It is not misinformation. Always check your information before posting. At ultra-cold temperatures it will last up to six months but the requirements are still strict afterward, Per Pfizer's documentation it can only be stored in:

  • "- Ultra-low-temperature freezers, which are commercially available and can extend shelf life for up to six months.
  • - The Pfizer thermal shippers, in which doses will arrive, that can be used as temporary storage units by refilling with dry ice every five days for up to 30 days of storage.
  • - Refrigeration units that are commonly available in hospitals. The vaccine can be stored for five days at refrigerated 2-8°C conditions."
  •
  • Dry ice temp is -40. More importantly:
  •
  • "Once thawed and stored under 2-8°C conditions, the vials cannot be re-frozen or stored under frozen conditions."

If anything interrupts that handling protocol the vaccine is worthless.

These are Pfizer vaccines shipped to Thailand.  Anywhere along that shipment from the USA until it is administered at the hospitals it can be diverted or adulterated.   You have a product that is currently in high demand and has a high value.  You may have a high degree of confidence that somehow the authorities will protect the shipment.  I say "maybe"  Any person who has access to those shipments is faced with the temptation to procure more money in a week than they will earn in a lifetime.   In the USA the Pentagon in one year could not account for $1 billion it spent.  The US military acknowledged it can't locate almost 2,000 weapons held in guarded arsenals.  They include weapons such as  grenade launchers, rocket launcher and mortars and somehow you believe that the vaccines shipped here by the USA are impervious to being stolen, or adulterated?  And that is the USA.  Think of how lax the security procedures are here.

My point is simply that I am not a conspiracy theorist..... I am not sure that you can say that.
