The guy should go after his girlfriend with whom he is having an affair. Going after the owner of the saloon is illegal. The best is lodge a complain and take legal action. If cannot then keep his tail between his legs and go back to his home country.

Don't invest more in Thailand than you can afford to walk away from.

There should be an affidavit all male Farang age 40-70 should have to read and sign before entering Thailand.

Maybe a short class at the airport would help as well. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

How do you know he is having an affair?

No foreigner will keep displaying his local girlfriend in showcase as Barbie doll in Thailand. Their main aim is to come and enjoy life in Thailand with local girls.

Somnamna, Farang.

Your "girlfriend" has chosen the quicker way to make money, as working in that shop

Selling what you paid for is quicker. Perhaps you should be more generous, with the next girl.

They mostly don't chose "you", a walking ATM, to work for their money

My guess is the farang encouraged a bar girl/gf to work a regular job as a manicurist. Farang purchases shop for her. She tries it but finds that running a small business is more difficult than earning money on her back. Not as much fun as gambling playing cards with friends, drinking, wake up at 11, hang around a bar and make 30k/month. So she let's farang buy business then sells to an actual girl who wants to work a regular job. Most likely the gf's "friends" advised her on how to screw over the now a bit poorer but much wiser bloke.

I'm new. Does that sound about right?

Yep.

Thai culture shock has led to many a poor man's ruin.

Sounds unstable and a few screws out to even get it to a WTF point. My take is just another foreigner who doesn't and possibly never will have a grasp of here.

Nijada contacted the previous salon owner, who said she was unable to understand her boyfriend, and that she had made it clear that the salon was legally sold and transferred

Should be simple enough for the police to locate the boyfriend, then.

Guessing the Farang put up the money to set up the salon, 'girlfriend' then decided to sell up and trouser the dosh. Standard procedure really, I hope he did not buy a house in her name too.

No sympathy, stupid.

Would anyone buy a property or a business in someone else's name solely on trust in their own countries.

They fall for it every time, this guy is not the first and he won`t be the last.

That is the reason most of Thai girls are targeting Westerners persuading them to come and invest in Thailand. These girls very well know and are well trained to mange westerners to empty their pockets. For Thai girls it is very easy to manage such westerners as long as both their big head and small head are kept happy always.
