Unless you are stuck in very crowded accommodation, probably safer just waiting in Chiang Mai.

Travel inevitably increases your exposure and Bangkok is ridden with Covid right now. At 75, you would be taking a serious risk.

Even the good vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) offer no protection in the week or so after your first shot, and protection good enough to stop Delta only kicks in about two weeks after your second shot. Sinovac offers remarkably little protection at any stage.

The distribution around the country is certain to improve over the next month or so. I would sit tight and wait for it to come to you.

Hi,

The situation has changed slightly, foreigners of 60 years of age and over are now eligible for the vaccine. The catch is that you must be resident in BKK, or one of the 5 (I think) surrounding provinces. This does raise the questions, why only these provinces? What about the other provinces recently designated “Dark Red”?

Well those provinces are of little concern to them about even looking after their own people so foreigners are just in a similar position.
