Darwinism at work!  All too many accidents such as this are due to riders inattention or intoxication.  I've seen many texting on their phones while riding one-handed, brain disengaged from the road ahead, and often without a helmet.  Then there're the (tinted) helmeted ones speeding, at night, with no situational awareness.

Given that there were probably dozens of similar accidents nationwide during the same 24 hour period I am curious as to why this accident was chosen as media noteworthy. RIP to him regardless of whether he was in error.
