Nothing surprising, no one wears a helmet. The good thing is, he did not kill anyone else, which happens often.

Agreed!  We had an accident if front of the neighbors home two days ago.  A 13 year old boy speeding on an unregistered motorbike hit a 60 year old head old while he was driving his motorbike in the opposite direction.  Neither wearing a helmet and the 60 year old died on impact in the middle of the street.  The kid flew off to the side of the ditch and just suffered bruises and scratches and last I heard is in the hospital. It took about an hour before they removed the old dude from the street. I didn’t see the impact, but heard it happen.  A loud motorbike with the muffler (or no muffler) screaming down the road as usual and smack, plastic parts bouncing on the road. Neighbors usually have a food stand out front and probably saw the whole thing.

From what I read, its unusual for motorbike accidents to result in other than the rider and pillion passengers being hurt or killed. That's not to say it's a good statistic, but if they continue to kill themselves, with little collateral damage to others, well, that is their own look out and that of their irresponsible parents, and indeed a useless Police Service, ineffective school discipline and a government that has no idea how to stem a flood of  motorbike accidents that other Nations would not tolerate.  When my UK based Son wanted to get a motorcycle license, he had to jump through the hoops of a Basic Skills Course (3 days) , continuing training to take the bike  maneuvering test, a Theory test, an under 125 road driving test, followed by a big bike test 2 years later.  That's proper effective training.  It's not rocket science Thailand.
