Why 'tragically'?  He pretty much committed suicide by idiocy, not really 'tragic' at all. The Thankful thing is that he didn't kill some other person in the process of killing himself.

Clear indication....no rider safer gear....especially helmet or could be wearing turtle cap helmet which might have flown during the impact. Anyway, it is his decision towards the path to death.

Exactly. Nothing tragic about someone playing stupid games and winning a Darwin award. Reminds me of this foreigner (looked Arab) weaving in traffic at high speed with no helmet last night - it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
