By 2020, 85% of the world’s opium originated from Afghanistan.

Yanks in charge at this time.

Wonder where they get their drug of choice these days?

or have they weened them on to cocaine and meth.

Mexico. The  yanks get their fentanyl there. It's flooding across the border with the immigrants.

Not the first time the Taliban have done this, and it was not credible in the past either - heroin is too valuable a cash crop for them to turn their backs on, and is too important a source of hard currency to finance arms purchases,  amongst other things.

When comes to Taliban it is "Good. Bad & Ugly".....this is the good part even if it is less than 10%. Just destroy the entire poppy culture from the country. Don't let the superpowers abuse.....

No and there is no evidence to support your claim that it is flooding across the border with immigrants. On the contrary, China remains the  primary source of fentanyl.  Yes Mexico is  a transit point, but China is  using Mexico as a transit hub. Because the product is so potent, one doesn't need to ship in large bulk as was done with  marijuana or even heroin. Like the Brylcreme  ads say, a  little dab will do ya. Shipping via Mexico does does not let China off the hook since  almost all the drug continues to be sourced from China. There is no doubt that China has weaponized the drug and is using it to cause social problems in western nations.

The drug comes through legal points of entry of the USA and is  brought in by legitimate  green card or visa holders hidden in vehicles. Most typically it comes in agricultural or consumer goods shipments. It isn't difficult to hide  $1MM of fentanyl in  the back of a refrigerator. They are quite  imaginative too, even shipping the drugs in coconuts.
