I am not sure why mentally unstable and mentally ill people are being allowed to roam freely. Such people must be kept under confinement and treated properly until they are fully cured or certified to be adaptable to the community

Currently the situation is a bit of a left over from the Covid pandemic.

Seems a lot of funds that were meant to go to these institutions was cut to fund Covid vaccines etc.

So the institutions couldn't care for them, so they were released back to family etc. medications were withdrawn also.

This being Thailand they will only react to these people if they become unsociable and warrant returning.

Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted syndrome.

Yet another case that could and should've been prevented. This is a guy with a criminal and mental history that shouldn't have been free to roam the streets and terrorize his neighbors, not to mention this incident. Should've been locked up. So many such cases it's alarming.

Ankle monitor, but roaming around with a motorbike?

Why do I think, that this is pointing on others? Who did not "monitor" the monitors movement?

Mental illness seems to be the go to excuse for criminals... who determines this and what authority do they have to deal with it is the bigger question.

With a surge in cheap synthetic drug abuse we can expect more 'mentally-affected' criminal acts.
