It will benefit China, no one else. Like a good few before them, Thailand is being sucked into a stinking Chinese vortex from which there will be no escape. Trade with the communists by all means, but total subservience only serves China.

Of course he will say this with his two faces and forked tongues. It will enable the CCP to move military troops, equipment and supplies into the area and no country will dare to say no to them. The real benefit is not economic, more militaristic and territorial control and expansion.

I trust China... not at all. Their dream is world domination and their Belt and Road Initiative is their way to politely force developing countries into bankruptcy. If this was, as they state, about generating trade across Eurasia, they would be concentrating on countries that it would benefit. Why then are they spending billions on Africa? And the South Pacific? This is all about military expansion and making countries beholden to the Dragon.

Of course, the China lovers, like Chan-o-cha, will think this is a wonderful idea - along with the brown paper bags that accidentally get left in their office after meetings, but anything people like him think gives me good reason to look on the other side of the coin.

Plenty of articles from different enities looking at their real ulterior underlying motives of the Belt.

I for one will never believe that their artificial manmade dredged reef islands are more than just holiday vacation spots. Tell me it aint sooooo!.

They would like to have you believe they are strategic extensions of their military reach and might, but I would never buy a bridge from them 😜

5 years out of date Poolie, a great deal has changed since then though it looked like a fine project in the beginning.

Well, to be fair, the Chinese have been kind of busy for the last three of those years with some other stuff which proved quite successful. Then again, its an Amerikan report, as giving a Chinese one immediately gets a kneejerk reaction, like 'Liar!!' or "Shill" with no back up, hence my reluctance in offering it.

Exactly what has changed, as regards the Initiative?

What do you expect a load shark to say? No doubt half of that statement above is correct.
