There are few obvious benefits for applying for this kind of visa if you already qualify for a retirement visa. Unless of course you enjoy running around collecting the plethora of documents required by immigration.

if you place all the documents required for a spouse visa and their copies side by side, it is possible to create a paper trail that circumnavigate the earth several times.
