There are around 300 Thais living in Sudan, of whom around 200 are Muslim students  at the International University of Africa in Khartoum.

Isn't this the university that was linked to the radicalization of young males? Why would anyone want to go and study in Sudan when there are better quality universities in Thailand, or even Malaysia or Indonesia? Who would any non muslim  even want to move to sharia law dominated Sudan which was previously subject to a violent civil war? Alcohol is forbidden and there are no legal imports or sales of  alcohol.
