Although, it is possible that someone deliberately decapitated the dugong for its tusks, which are believed to be auspicious by some people and can be sold for a high price, said Yongyut.

Decapitated with a knife because ignorant stupid people want the tusks because of some mambo jumbo beliefs so sad, tigers, rhino, elephant, bears, pangolin and many other precious species being targeted due to superstitions which have no scientific basis at all, makes me want to scream and we all know which country feeds the trade in endangered animals, yes it’s the same one where the coronavirus originated.

Sadly. ignorance, and especially cruelty to dumb animals,  is the default setting for human kind.  We are the most dangerous species to the Earth and to all other species, including ourselves.  But Nature will get its revenge at some point. Covid was just a taster of what is to come.
