The best is if the Traffic police can come out with the statistics as they are the one who has the exact figures all over Thailand.

These are meaningless statistics unless comparable data with a 'normal' 7 days, and year on year data based on traffic flows, are included. They push out this tosh each year and it means nothing.  As far as this tells us,   this 7 days has resulted in fewer deaths than any other, normal 7 days.

Songkran is a time to celebrate not to grief.

Most of the accidents seems motorcycle related. ~80%

More governance in motorcycle safety will solve 50% of the incidents.

Every year figures like these come out and nothing ever seems to get done about it.

Education is needed plus much stricter testing before allowing anyone to drive a motorbike or behind the wheel of a car.

Very sad state of affairs that Thais seem to think this is exceptable.
