What a load of ....!  "not wearing seatbelts" might translate as 'unrestrained', or in the tray of a pickup 

Cause of car deaths and injuries was most likely,  a/ drunkenness and b/ speed and c/ unrestrained passengers.

Who is trying to fool who? Two days ago a different official spouted that 79% of accidents involved motorcycles but now it seems that the problem is cars, because motorcycles do not have seat belts and now 91% of injuries are caused by not wearing seatbelts. It is no wonder that no Thai drivers pay any attention to safety recommendations because each spokesperson has a different agenda and paints a different picture.

The ThaiRSC reported in January that as many as 939,713 road accidents were reported in Thailand last year, up 4.7% from 2021. Road accidents killed 14,737 people, and injured 924,799 last year, ThaiRSC said. The committee reported that 536 deaths and 7,885 injuries were among foreigners.

May be the authorities have to clearly spell which region....I am pretty sure that this could be the 1000 corners area....

I haven't read the article but clearly they were talking about the injuries to car passengers.

Also I don't see anything dubious about either of these 2 figures? Thais know full well already, the reason they don't care is that most of them value comfort more than safety and no number will change that.
