Not all it is cracked up to be.

Many after a short stint, make a side agreement that they leave but pretend to be present at the base. 

The pay persons (and bosses) collect their allotted income every month and the guy, after paying a "fee", goes about his life for the duration of his service. 

Obviously, there are some restrictions required, you don't apply for a Govt job etc during this period and in some instances required presence at the base are essential.

Happens. TIT 🤣
