Don't the vehicle have reverse sensor? Something did not make any sense. May be the teacher is on the phone watching something or messaging. It is a common scene in Thailand that people are found to be driving and texting and there by loosing focus on the road. I have encountered a few and have to horn them when riding my motorcycle beside them. They think it is multi tasking. But it is putting other road users at risk....however in this case it is yet to be established the fact for the accident. Hence we cannot say anything concrete upfront....

I'm not surprised that this happened... I am surprised that it does not happen more often given the lack of protocols on student safety while walking on roadsides and crossings
