When a "study" (in the broadest sense of the word) comes out and declares Kaeng Som to be the 12th worst dish in the world, a shock reverberates through the nation and facebook/twitter/tiktok/... gets flooded.

Now a (real) study has come out and for the umpteenth time it is confirmed that Thailand is at the pits when comparing its prison system to the rest of the world. If the prisons housed dogs and cats instead of humans, people would be in uproar and many posts would use terms like "animal cruelty".

Yet the social web is silent, no politician has felt a statement is needed, and life goes on without noticing this blip. It's a sad state of humans/affairs.

That's a quacky answer for the most trivial of reasons: no question was asked.

There was however an observation (implicitly stated), namely that the fact that somebody did something wrong (on some scale) seems to be accepted as a blank voucher for all repercussions (on any scale). The topic is indeed not a vote winner because people feel more comfortable by leaving some indefensible opinions out of sight and thought. Humans resemble ostriches in that respect, even though their motives are different.

A question was implied in your post.  As for caring, no, not a whole lot, just stay straight here and its not a worry. Stray and suffer the consequences.

well stay out of jail then, simples.

Those conditions do look pretty grim. You are right, though - as the saying goes "if you can't take the time, don't do the crime".

If you can help it and are smart enough to get in, then get out of the biz.

But we’ll above the international standards compared to Russia, Venezuela, Rwanda & North Korea
