Just what is this "Honorary" French Consul supposed to do about the problem?

Thais are too enamored with 'titles', thinking this guy can actually do anything about this problem but say, "Oh, that's bad."

What.....discussing with French Consular?.....What is the issue....Hello..Thailand. It is your country and your law. Just enforce it....simple as that. Tell the tourists either bucke-up or Pack-up.

1st when renting a motorbike to someone the renter needs to check that the person has a license.

 2nd they must have or be provided a helmet

3rd Police need to do their job and enforce the laws, if someone is riding a bike without a license prosecute   them and the renter

4th If anyone is not obeying the law, not just road rules the police need to do their job, not hope a consul from another country will solve their problems for them.

The consul will not be able to do one thing.  This is Thailand and the police need to enforce the laws of the country.  This starts with the people renting the bikes.  If the renter does not have a valid motorbike license, then no rental.  If the renter decides to overlook this fact, then that is who the police need to come down hard in.  I am assuming they need a licence to rent, so if they are caught renting to someone without the proper documentation, take away their license.  Simple!!
