This is harsh, but true.  Too much of this country runs on scams, fraud, lies, incompetence  and criminality, often dressed up as Thai culture and that idiotic, meaningless  word 'face' . When you live here long enough, you come to expect the worst, trust no-one but yourself and avoid any dealings that will put you at a disadvantage, or that will come back to bite you. Its not just Thais, far too many farangs here are just as untrustworthy and need to be avoided.

Yeah, you certainbly got that right as it is open season for everyone trying to get over on everyone here. Thai with Thai is more common, but it is really just being gullible and naïve and not wanting to believe the flag is actually red and not green.
