Ramanathan.P Posted March 2 #288403 Share Posted March 2 These are corss border cultures. It happens in every neighbouring country which share the same cultural heritage. It is something like Malaysians and Singaporeans are arguing who is the originator of Nasi Lemak, Char Kue Teow, Roti Canai, Teh Tarik, Wan tan Mee...etc...etc. No one is going to win the argument. It is something like chicken and eggs story...which comes first. Of course if ask any man he would say Chick comes first for him...

Unless it is fried chicken that you are eating and you are white, then you will find yourself accused of cultural appropriation and racism - seriously, I have been accused of racism for suggesting that fried chicken was not an exclusively black invention. Without all the cross border and cross cultural influences food would be a lot more boring, although so called "fusion" cuisine (take two ingredients that don't go together and charge insane prices) is often complete garbage. KaptainRob Posted March 2 #288438 Share Posted March 2 Surely a non-issue, or storm in a tea-cup, as history might show Khmer, Lao and Siamese people sharing common food and culture? Even sillier is an Australian contention they 'invented' the pavlova .... an iconic New Zealand dessert!
