News Forum - Japan’s births hit a new low last year

Recommended Posts

Japan’s population crisis has deepened as the number of births recorded in the country hit a new low last year, despite efforts by the government to reverse the decades-long decline. Statistics released by the Ministry of Health yesterday show that the country saw 799,728 births in 2022. This was the lowest number on record, and …

The story Japan’s births hit a new low last year as seen on Thaiger News.

A major problem for Japan is women in the workplace, instead of in the home. Not that capitalism gets off the hook, nowadays it's simply unaffordable for young Japanese, to break free and start new households or families. It's a combination of social changes for the worse

Or is it the nature saying the world is overpopulated?

Personally think there are about 2 billion more people than the world needs. Oh capitalism needs the population to increase, more people, more sales, more profit.  Capitalists only focus is profit. Damn the consequences.

Realistically I think the world needs to return to population figures of the 70-80s.  And then maintain them.

May happen, throw in WW3.😐

Just an old outdated, I assume, white guy view

The world was ignorant for a long time

People had a ton of kids because they had shit all to do

It sort of reminds me going to my wife's village

So many people with shit all to do

You ask women with all the knowledge and resources what they prefer

And most of them prefer to be out and working and independent

It's just insecure old white dudes that don't like it

This is a baked in demographic time bomb for which the social and economic consequences will only gradually become apparent over the next 50 years or so. China has the same problem but theirs was self inflicted by the one child policy that went on 20 years too long. The CCP are now desperate to encourage couples to have as many children as possible now but it’s way way too late. The only countries that are still increasing their populations are largely Muslim countries which is probably not good news for the rest of us.

It’s obvious in the modern world that the more advanced a society, the lower the birth rate. China realized that 50 years ago when they mandated the one child policy in order to modernize their workforce. Yes Japan suffers from the need for the young to satisfy their career goals with tireless attention to work, with little time for socializing. In addition, adult porn is very big and their sex toys are first class.

Get past your prejudice against Muslims sometimes and study the actual data. Countries with the highest birth rates are mainly Christian countries in Sub Saharan Africa.

Are you worried the Muslims are taking over? 🤔🤔😆😆

6 of the top 10 in your list are majority Muslim nations.

Get your facts straight before you make fun of people, perhaps.

From the top ten. Niger, Somalia, Mali, Gambia in the 90s%.

That's 4.

Burkina Faso about 65%

That's 5.

Nigeria and Chad about 50%

The rest minimal. I call that a draw. 😊😊😊

If you look at the darker areas on the map with the higher birth rates they are clearly sub Saharan African which has a Muslim population of around 30%.

How was my post making fun of anyone? 🤔🤔️

I don't think I broke forum rule 3,

the poster I replied to inferred that we should be worried about more Muslims on this planet. I would suggest that that is not respectful of someone's religion, but that's okay is it?

Furthermore, if you look at the Muslim population of the next ten in the list of countries with the highest birth rates, and the drop in birth rate is negligible by the way:

Uganda 13%

Tanzania 34%

Mozambique 19%

Benin 27%

Guinea 90%

South Sudan 6%

Central African Republic 9%

Ivory Coast 42%

Cameroon 30%

Zambia 2%

Then a different picture starts to emerge. My facts are straight.... 👍🏿

Niger, Somalia, Mail, Gambia are overwhelmingly Muslim. Burkina Faso, Chad and Nigeria have more Muslims than Christians.
That is NOT a draw, despite what you claim. Your emojis don’t help your case, either.

Perhaps you need to work on your geography, too.

No, but rule # 6 is looking very shaky.

End of discussion.

Its a myth. Don't forget it was first reported in popular media, as a supposed mental disorder, though it's not recognised as such by psychiatry.

Those independent women are often bitter, regretful, and childless in later life.

Female fertility drops off after age 27, so remind me, how long do these 'empowered' women with 'modern' lifestyles, delay first motherhood? How old are they when their oldest children, reach the age of majority? How many have no children at all?

Is it worth it?

Whether it is a mental disorder or not is beside the point. This cohort of individuals have withdrawn from society and are thus a contributing factor to the drop in fertility rate.

Right. They fail to start adulting, because they can't afford homes or families. But unless you have a social network, you do end up isolated. After school or uni, and without a stable workplace, you do end up isolated. This is a widespread phenomenon, in postindustrial societies, not just Japan. But Japanese imagination excused a social (and moral) failing, to adjust its younger people, by inventing this media myth, the hikikomori syndrome.

I would assert it is at least in part, a passive aggressive stance; a protest against the strict moral and social codes that govern Japanese society. And a rebellion to stereotyping.

I would not. Japanese social mores are intricate but non-judgemental compared to, for example, American ones.
