Karolyn Posted March 1, 2023 #288110 Share Posted March 1, 2023 A major problem for Japan is women in the workplace, instead of in the home. Not that capitalism gets off the hook, nowadays it's simply unaffordable for young Japanese, to break free and start new households or families. Oh capitalism needs the population to increase, more people, more sales, more profit. Capitalists only focus is profit. Damn the consequences. Realistically I think the world needs to return to population figures of the 70-80s. And then maintain them. May happen, throw in WW3. Leeshard Posted March 2, 2023 #288274 Share Posted March 2, 2023 This is a baked in demographic time bomb for which the social and economic consequences will only gradually become apparent over the next 50 years or so. China has the same problem but theirs was self inflicted by the one child policy that went on 20 years too long. The CCP are now desperate to encourage couples to have as many children as possible now but it’s way way too late. The only countries that are still increasing their populations are largely Muslim countries which is probably not good news for the rest of us. BJoe Posted March 2, 2023 #288452 Share Posted March 2, 2023 It’s obvious in the modern world that the more advanced a society, the lower the birth rate. China realized that 50 years ago when they mandated the one child policy in order to modernize their workforce. Yes Japan suffers from the need for the young to satisfy their career goals with tireless attention to work, with little time for socializing. In addition, adult porn is very big and their sex toys are first class.
