While observance to the rules is all well and good for respecting local Thai customs by foreigners perhaps they need to do something with the local Thais around here who will, by midafternoon, be out of their skulls having drunk copious amounts of Thai whiskey and cheap beer.

Can't say I blame them. They do not get much time off work. So a religious day is a real bonus.

I would go for a ban on loud obnoxious music especially from the temples and the schools as well...

There is a big temple in Nonthaburi 

 

And they build a Moo baan development right in it basically 

 

I said to my wife no way I'd live there with all the shouting over the speakers by the temple
