My philosophy is if have too many and not just random luck of the sting, then I am not going in and will go pool side to swim. Has my fair share of stings in my life already.

Even some of the more innocuos looking jellyfish can pack a punch. I have scars on one foot that have been there for over 25 years, inflicted  by a plain white jellyfish no more than 6-8" across that I wasn't able to avoid in time while I was getting back onto the boat at the end of a dive off Koh Tao. Vinegar, hot towels - and something that didn't register until after, there was always one of the divemasters with me and talking to me until I was back at the hotel, they had obviously had bad reactions to these jellyfish in the past.
