What the heck?  Government offices spending taxpayers money for prizes for couples getting married on Valentines Day?  Makes no sense and must be illegal.  Registering a marriage is not something that deserves a "prize", or even a  souvenir or hotel voucher from the local district office .

Perfect story for a newspaper to follow up over say the next 10 years to tell readers how many of these couples are together after 1, 5 and 10 year intervals.

Might be interesting to concentrate on the foreigner/Thai marriages and see how many of the elderly husbands are still alive in 10 years !
