This is a largely unreported dispute outside of SE Asia. It occasionally makes international news when attacks take place in Bangkok. Truth is that over 6,500 people have lost their life over the past 20 years. The dispute goes back over 100 years and like all such disputes is a total bloody mess. It will take goodwill and effort on both sides to even reach a pause in the violence. Outside interference is also an issue which is hard to control.
