Did they have the appropriate visas and work permits to be going around picking up litter?

That tired, worn out, old & unfunny response again.

At least these Russians are only picking up rubbish. They aren’t having to walk around the towns in the Donbas picking up human remains from the latest shelling by their fellow countrymen.

What a kind and progressive people they must be to do such a benevolent task as rubbish collection!

Just like the corrupt, extortionist Thai Police news reports? We get the same for those news articles. And expect more when Thai elections start.

I remember Russian tourists in Thailand not so positive.

Drunken shouting asociale persons.

Probably a special cleaning operation for hoping other toerist will forget of their barbaric behavior in Ukraine.

Yes, Russian war is bad. Yes, many Russians are primitive and rude. However, there are a core group of Russians upon which hope for civil society rests. For all we know, maybe these people are against Putin and his war.  Rather than criticize, I will say thank you and please keep visiting.

Sorry Vigo I have to disagree. We don’t know if they are for the invasion of Ukraine. Either way, they should not be allowed to act as though life is normal while other Russians are slaughtering innocent people in Ukraine. Stop them all travelling anywhere other than out of Ukraine and back home in Russia.

This story is fine in itself, but it undermines the great work that Trash Hero's do on Samui, every Sunday. Perhaps the Thaiger should run a story about how expats and locals give their time every Sunday to keep Samui beautiful.

I hope, The Taiger will also report very soon about Trash Heroes, who clean up beaches and other areas all over Thailand every sunday....

Not sure, why you write about a handful of russians, who did this only one morning? A lot of people who frequently walk along the beach are collecting rubbish every day.

All the business owners that have the advantage of being beach front should be partially responsible for keeping the beaches clean and work closely with the local authorities to improve the image and cleanliness of this beautiful island. If tourist like to help then hand them a garbage bag and let them contribute like some other countries, sadly not enough though!
