Thailand’s Cabinet approved a wage hike for skilled workers in the country. The hike will range from 465 to 700 baht a day for 17 occupations spanning three sectors. Now this may be one of the most stupid comments ever made.  If the workers were in High Demand there would be no need to raise the minimum wage.  When masks and alcohol gel were in High Demand the price went up.  Remember the prices being paid for Covid vaccines.  Cars in the USA were in High Demand because of a chip shortage and cars prices both new and used skyrocketed with new cars selling above their sticker price. 

A person's wage is dictated strictly by what skill they possess, the demand for that skill, and the number of workers available to fill the positions. 


It these "skilled workers" were being paid poorly it is strictly because there was an adequate supply of workers willing to work for that wage.  This idea of a government mandate on wages is nothing more than a form of communism where the government tells the marketplace what to produce, what it is worth, and what to sell it for.
