It seems to me in those circumstances consideration should be given to imposing the serious penalties on the doctor. No responsible doctor would allow a patient to become addicted to prescribed medication
As with most reports like this, no-one is asking WHY?
THe monkey population is an imbalance of nature.
Why is the population so big? Why has it shifted.
I suspect just putting them in a cage will mean the popultion will just grow to replace them.
A population relies on food - if there is no food then the population will dwindle of its own accord.
With dogs the usual response is to CNVR - capture, neuter vaccinate and return - this does work but I suspect with monkeys it would be very difficult. Rather than just spaying females, castrating the males is probably easiest.
One should also be concerned about rabies - these are mamals and they bite - everyone bitten should immediately be vaccinated and so should all the monkeys.
