Watching somebody jump of a cliff (which is a sure way of permanently curing a depression) can be upsetting (even traumatizing), so that prior apology deserves respect.

Seeing (and hearing) them land is not a pleasant experience either - as happened to me about 30 years ago when I looked up from eating my breakfast just in time to see a new member of the Bangkok Flying Club hit the ground.
